Segment Creation
There are 2 stages for pushing a segment to Data Studio:
Unity: Segment creation is an automated process in Unity. Select Salesforce as a channel and create the segment. This step pushes our segments to the Krux console. Salesforce does not require any user input during segment creation. However we have added Price, Currency and Buyer name as user inputs so that is easier for external users to create a segment creation request which then needs to be manually updated in Krux console. Salesforce UI accepts Price in USD only.
**Segment data takes 24-48 hours to reflect in Krux console as we have to upload user consent before uploading user data. Krux: Once a segment is listed in the Krux console (under the Segments tab), it needs to be pushed to Data Studio. Segments available in Data Studio are known as Assets. Following steps are required for the same:
- Click on Data Studio tab Manage Assets Create New Asset
- On select/search for Base segment field, search for the segment you want to take live on Data Studio. Give it a Name (Marketplace name, can be the same name as the original segment). Provide Description, Category, Sub Category, Type.
- Click Save & Provision
- The asset would then be pending approval from the Salesforce team. SLA here is 24 hours.
Segment Licensing
Only segments/assets which have been approved by the Salesforce team can be licensed. A segment can be licensed in 3 different ways:
Discovery: Licensing to Discovery pushes the segments to open Studio marketplace and allows any Data Studio customers to discover these segments. This option is available in the Krux console.
Private: This allows the segments to be pushed to a particular seat within Data Studio. This option is available in the Krux console. Partner: This allows us to share our segments with non Data Studio customers. We have to drop an email to the support team with partner details to get this activated. Only CPM pricing allowed.
Steps to license assets/segments for Discovery
Select an approved asset. Assets with a green tick against them are approved.
Select a pricing type (CPM/subscription) and add price. Select Date Range. Select Usage(how the segment would be used - activation, overlap, lookalike etc)
Manual approval: Check if you want to manually approve before any buyer uses our segments. Unchecking it will allow any marketplace buyer to use the segment for the date range at the listed price.
Select blocklist/whitelist buyers. Select Buyer type. Select blocklist/whitelist for execution (partner channels where data can be shown
/used)
Steps to license assets/segments for Private
Select Data Studio Customer
**Salesforce has changed its policy to show buyer list only on request and not by default. When you receive a segment request from client, submit a Buyer exposure request(Buyer Name) to Salesforce help immediately so that the buyer is available on the console by the time the segment is approved. SLA to be updated
Select a pricing type (CPM/subscription) and add price. Select Date Range.
Select blocklist/whitelist for execution (partner channels where data can be shown/used) Select Usage(how the segment would be used - activation, overlap, lookalike etc)
Once we license the segment to a client, they have to approve the segment before they start using it
** Shareable population: Shareable population is the percentage of audience against which we send consent data to Salesforce. If a segment shows 0 against this column, buyer won't be able to use it. Please raise an issue with Suminakshi Das if any segment shows 0 shareable population
Reporting
Salesforce shares the monthly usage report on the 15th of the next month which includes buyer usage.
